The course «Planning of Underground Space» promises a deep dive into the role of subterranean realms in urban development. Taught in English, it offers a comprehensive exploration from historical to futuristic perspectives, spanning social, environmental, economic, and sustainability considerations.

From ancient subterranean habitats to modern underground innovations, participants will uncover the multifaceted uses of urban underground space. Delving into early forms of habitation, conservation, storage, and shelter, the course transitions seamlessly to contemporary applications and envisions future possibilities for subsurface development.

Urban underground space, often overlooked or underutilized, holds immense potential in shaping the cities of tomorrow. Recognizing this, the course emphasizes the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration among professionals in urban planning. By incorporating the third dimension into urban engineering and planning, we pave the way for future-proof, resilient, sustainable, and livable cities.

Designed to appeal to students interested in various facets of the built environment, the course is tailored for Civil Engineering, REIS (spatial planning and infrastructure), and architecture programs. It serves as a platform for aspiring urban planners and architects to explore the untapped opportunities lying beneath our city streets.
